Everything starts with mindset not just property, your overall mindset governs the quality of the journey. To be successful within property mindset matters and is key, great advantages that come out from having a strong mindset is that you look at situations in a different light.

There are two types of mindset that are described in the very good book "Mindset, Changing the way you think to fulfil your potential - Carol Dweck". The two mindsets are: an open mindset and closed mindset.

Maybe you've already guessed that an open mindset is the ideal mindset to aim for. An open mindset allows you to conquer what life throws at you with a sense of ease, as problems are looked at as opportunities to improve yourself. Property is far from a walk in the park, it includes a lot of effort and potential headaches. However the benefits that come from property is long term wealth for your future which can also be handed down to the younger generations. This is obviously a big deal, hence why it's important to have the right mindset.

A closed mindset will cause life to happen to you and will cause you to be a victim, problems are looked at as a reason for why something won't work. There are no opportunities in the eyes of somebody with a closed mindset, this will not work within property. This means that when problems do pop up it may seem that the world is coming to an end and your destined for failure.

To be successful within property you need to be willing to put in a lot of hours and consistent amounts of energy to build up a profitable property portfolio. Another great thing that helps with mindset is the information that you feed your mind on a daily basis. A motivational video a day can start your day off in the right direction, property podcasts will helps to keep you in the property loop and improve mindset about property, networking with like minded people is also a fantastic way to strengthen mindset.
Here are 5 things that you can start today...

1. Write your goals down

Get a note pad right now and write down big goals with a date that you want to achieve. "A dream written down with a date becomes a goal. A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan. A plan backed by action makes your dreams come true." So continue to write your goals down every single day before you go to bed and first thing when you wake up.
2. Plan your day & week

This is a must with the 1st step, once you write your goals down you need to have a plan to navigate you to your destination. "Failing to prepare is preparing to fail". This will allow you to spend your time wisely and get stuff done, this gets you closer to your goals.
3. Exercise

Doing 30 minutes to 1 hour of exercise a day releases endorphins which help to improve your mental health and mood. When you feel good you're more productive when you work, so get that body moving.
4. Surround yourself with positive people

The 5 people you spend the most time with have a very big influence on the way you act and behave, therefore you need to make sure you have good people around you that make you feel amazing and keep your motivation high. Give out the energy that you want to receive as well, it works both ways.
5. Listen to and Read success stories

Simply listening to successful peoples stories is a great way to keep you motivated or even listening to motivational videos on youtube. These are both good ways to keep you motivated as they are encouraging, inspiring and they may also relate to you.
